Leaving national health insuranceHow to leave Itabashi's national health insurance when your situation changes, for example after joining a workplace health insurance, moving to another city, or starting public assistance. A death in the household is handled automatically through the death registration. Notify within 14 days of the change. A late notice is still accepted, but premiums can no longer be reduced after two years, and if you use the ward's insurance after leaving, the medical costs it paid must be repaid.
Funeral benefit for people under 75How to claim the funeral benefit of 70,000 yen when an insured person under 75 covered by national health insurance dies. The benefit goes to the person who arranged and paid for the funeral. If the person left social insurance within the three months before death, social insurance may pay a burial benefit instead. The claim must be made within two years after the funeral. For people aged 75 and over, a different benefit applies, see the separate page.
Lost insurance certificate: can it be suspended?A lost national health insurance certificate (shikaku kakunin-sho) cannot be suspended. Unlike a credit card, it has no suspension for loss or theft. If it is lost or stolen, report it to the police right away. To get a new certificate, go to the Itabashi ward office or a district office. They also reissue the certificate notice (shikaku jōhō tsūchisho) and the elderly recipient certificate (kōrei jukyūsha-shō).
