Why the premium went up from last year
Overview
The national health insurance premium can go up for several reasons. A household member may have had more income last year, for example from a one-time gain such as a property sale or share dividends. Rates and maximum amounts change each year. A person whose income is not yet known leaves the flat amount charged without reduction. A person who turns 40 adds the care part. A new insured member in the household also changes the premium. When income becomes known, a new notice is sent in the middle of the following month.
