Overview

Your national health insurance certificate (shikaku kakunin-sho) and certificate notice (shikaku jōhō tsūchisho) renew automatically before they expire, so you need no procedure. Two cases need action at the ward office: a change of residence status, and unpaid health insurance premiums. The page also links to pages on the one-time renewal and on the merger of the My Number card with the health insurance card.
