Joining National Health Insurance after losing social insurance
Overview
If you lose social insurance, for example after leaving a job, and do not join another health plan, you must join National Health Insurance. File within 14 days of the change. Bring a certificate that you left your workplace insurance, photo ID, My Number documents for the household head and everyone joining, and your bank card, passbook and registered seal, since premiums are normally paid by direct debit. Filings are accepted at the ward office or a resident office, and some can be mailed or filed online.
