Funeral benefit for people under 75
Overview
How to claim the funeral benefit of 70,000 yen when an insured person under 75 covered by national health insurance dies. The benefit goes to the person who arranged and paid for the funeral. If the person left social insurance within the three months before death, social insurance may pay a burial benefit instead. The claim must be made within two years after the funeral. For people aged 75 and over, a different benefit applies, see the separate page.
