Combined refund of high medical and care costs
Overview
If the total of your medical and long-term care self-payments for one calculation year is above the set limit, the amount above it is refunded, unless that amount is 500 yen or less. Each year the ward sends a notice and an application form to the household head. Return the form in the reply envelope and include every eligible person in the household. Apply within the time limit printed on the notice. If you joined National Health Insurance during the calculation year, you also need a self-payment certificate from your previous insurer.
