Late charges on National Health Insurance premiums
Overview
Late charges are added to National Health Insurance premiums paid after the due date, for each day late. For the first three months after the due date the rate is 2.8 percent a year at this year's rate, and after three months it is 9.1 percent. No late charge is added when the premium is under 2,000 yen, or when the charge itself is under 1,000 yen. The charge is based on the ward's National Health Insurance ordinance.
