Pension deduction for National Health Insurance premiums
Overview
Some households pay National Health Insurance premiums by deduction from a pension. This applies when the head of household and every insured member are aged 65 to 74, the long-term care premium is also deducted, and the pension is at least 180,000 yen a year, with premiums not above half of the pension. Paying by direct debit excludes this method. Each July the ward checks the conditions again, and a change sends a new notice.
