My wardsHigh-cost medical care under 70 (refund)
Overview
When a person pays more than their monthly limit for medical care in one month, the excess is refunded as high-cost medical care. Payments of 21,000 yen or more at one hospital in the same month are added together. The limit depends on income band; the lowest, for tax-exempt households, is 35,400 yen a month. Notices arrive three to four months after treatment, and claims must be made within two years. A limit certificate lets you pay only the limit at the hospital.
