My wardsBed difference charges in hospital
Overview
In hospital, the charge for a room with a bed difference (sagaku beddo-dai) is paid in full by the patient, on top of the hospital stay covered by health insurance. Choosing such a room is the patient's decision, after explanation and consent. Under a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare notice, the charge may not be asked in three cases: no written consent that shows the room charge, a room needed for the patient's medical condition, or a room needed for ward management when the patient did not really choose it.
