High-cost medical care at 70 and over (refund)

Overview

For people aged 70 and over, all medical costs are added together regardless of amount, and the excess over the monthly limit is refunded as high-cost medical care. The limit depends on income band, and the lowest is 8,000 yen a month. Notices come three to four months after treatment, and claims must be made within two years from the first day of the following month. Keep receipts. If you expect a notice and none arrives, contact the ward.
