Changes to registration for foreign residents

Guide ProceduresTopic: Foreign residents
  • Foreign residents

Overview

Since 9 July 2012, foreign residents no longer have foreign registration certificates. Residents with a legal status of more than three months receive a residence card or, if they are special permanent residents, a special permanent resident certificate. Those with a legal status of three months or less are not on the resident record. Address changes and national health insurance are still handled by the ward, while status changes and residence card renewals are handled by the regional immigration bureau.
