Overview
From fiscal year 2026, National Health Insurance premiums in the ward include a new child and childcare support levy. The levy is added to the existing parts of the premium: the basic medical part, the late-stage elderly support part and the nursing care part. It pays for child allowances, support for pregnant women and the universal childcare access scheme. The national call centre answers questions about the levy, and the ward's National Health Insurance and Pension Section answers questions about premiums.
The levy
From fiscal year 2026, the child and childcare support levy applies to all health insurance schemes. It is a new source of funds for childcare support. Under the government's accelerated plan, it pays for the expansion of child allowances, support payments for pregnant women and the universal childcare access scheme.
Premiums from April 2026
From the premium for April 2026 onwards, the levy is paid together with the existing parts of the premium: the basic medical part, the late-stage elderly support part and the nursing care part. The amounts and rates are on the ward's premium calculation page.
