Taking recyclables from collection points is banned

Overview

Under the Itabashi waste ordinance, only the ward and businesses it designates may collect recyclables put out at collection points. Recyclables include paper, bottles, cans, PET bottles, plastic, old cloth, dry batteries and small appliances. Patrols issue warnings and orders; repeat offenders face fines of up to 200,000 yen, and up to 500,000 yen for habitual offenders. Put recyclables out at 8:00 a.m. on collection day. Report a theft with the date, place and vehicle number. Do not approach or shout at the collectors.
