Beware of collectors of unwanted goods Some collectors who advertise by truck or flyer to take unwanted household goods cause trouble: they charge after the work is done, ask more than double the quote once the goods are loaded, or dump the goods illegally. Under the ward's waste ordinance, even licensed collectors may not collect household waste, except the specified home appliances (air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators and freezers, washing machines and clothes dryers). Dispose of bulky items and appliances by the ward's rules.
Beware of refund scams Scammers pretend to be ward staff and say that your premium has changed or that you are owed a refund for overpaid medical costs, then try to get you to operate an ATM. Ward staff never do this, and refunds are never paid through an ATM. Ward staff do not ask for bank account numbers out of the blue, except to check documents you have already sent. If you receive a suspicious call, contact the ward office or the nearest police station: Itabashi, Shimura or Takashimadaira. The page lists the phone number of each station.
Beware of emails asking for premium payment Fraud emails pretend to ask for payment of National Health Insurance premiums and lead to a payment app, PayPay. Itabashi Ward never sends emails asking individuals to pay premiums. Do not click the links in such emails. If you are unsure, contact the ward office or the nearest police station: Itabashi, Shimura or Takashimadaira. The page lists the phone number of each station.
