Overview

When heavy rain makes landslides or debris flows likely, the Japan Meteorological Agency issues sediment disaster information in five levels, from early caution (level 1) to special warning (level 5). Residents living in designated sediment-risk zones should check the warnings and the evacuation information issued by the ward, and take appropriate evacuation action. Suginami has six designated sediment-risk zones, in the Kugayama, Takaido, Horinouchi and Izumi areas; five of them are also special warning zones.
