Earthquake relief shelters
Overview
Earthquake relief shelters open in public primary and junior high schools when an earthquake of seismic intensity 5 upper or stronger hits. People whose homes have burned down or collapsed go there, and first aid is given there. If your house is safe and there is no fire risk nearby, you do not need to rush to a shelter; you can stay at home. Stay-at-home evacuees can register at a shelter to receive supplies. The ward has 65 relief shelters, so check several in advance in case roads or fires block the way.
