Disaster cooking: pack cooking recipes for parents and children

Notice DisasterTopic: Preparedness
  • Children (3-12)
  • Parents and pregnancy

Overview

The page shows pack cooking: food sealed in a heat-resistant plastic bag and cooked in a pot of hot water, useful when gas, electricity or water are cut off in a disaster. It leaves little washing up, and one pot can cook rice and several dishes. Recipes are given for chicken mayo pasta, vegetable potage, steamed buns, omelette and rice, with videos for most. A quiz worksheet helps parents and children learn about disaster preparedness.
