Wide-area evacuation sites
Overview
Wide-area evacuation sites are places where people go to protect themselves from spreading fire after a major earthquake. They are usually large parks and open squares. On 15 July 2022 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government published its revised evacuation sites: the ward added one site and renamed some others. Because roads may be blocked by collapsed buildings, residents should know several evacuation sites near home, school or work in advance. The page links to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's list.
