Prepare in advance for a safe evacuation

Overview

Before a disaster, check the risks where you live and plan how you will evacuate. For earthquakes, the earthquake damage simulation shows the local seismic intensity, fire risk and building damage risk. For floods, the flood hazard map shows the expected water depth at your home. In an earthquake, if your house is safe and there is no fire risk nearby, you can stay at home instead of going to a relief shelter. For floods, Suginami has no large river that would carry houses away, so people indoors on the second floor or higher can stay safe; the ward suggests vertical evacuation.

How to apply

Check the earthquake damage simulation and the flood hazard map for your home, decide whether to stay at home or evacuate vertically, and keep at least three days of water, food and medicines.
