Year-end special childcare at ward nurseries, 2026
Overview
Four Itabashi ward nurseries offer special childcare on 29 and 30 December 2026, from 7:15 to 18:15, for children whose parents cannot look after them at the end of the year because they are working or for similar reasons. About 20 places a day are available per nursery. The fee is 3,000 yen per child per day. Applications by post or online are due by 27 November 2026; applications at the counter are taken from 24 November to 3 December 2026. Children must be using an approved nursery in the ward and must have finished weaning.

Places and eligibility
- Four ward nurseries: Nakaitabashi, Akatsuka Shinmachi, Takashimadaira Kurumi and Kamiitabashi nurseries
- About 20 places a day per nursery
- For children at an approved ward nursery or similar whose parents cannot look after them because of work or similar reasons at the end of the year
- Children who have finished weaning. Children certified as needing support may be hard to take; consult in advance.

If the first-choice nursery is full, or closed because of infection, the second-choice nursery holds the service. The childcare office will contact you.
Fee and refunds
The fee is 3,000 yen per child per day. Households on public assistance and households exempt from resident tax pay the same. This is not a free-of-charge service under the childcare fee scheme. Once an application is complete, the fee is not refunded even if the service is not used.
How to apply
- By post: send the documents; a copy hiding information other than the name and date of birth is enough for the proof. The bill, the consent form and the contact card are mailed after the period ends.
- Online: use a smartphone or computer. Hide other information when scanning or photographing the proof of date of birth.
- At the counter: South Building, 3rd floor, counter 23, during the counter period.
Lunch
Allergy-free or other special meals are not provided. If a child cannot eat some foods, bring a packed lunch. The menu is in the recruitment guide.
