Bottle-to-bottle recycling of PET bottles starts

Overview

Itabashi has started bottle-to-bottle recycling of PET bottles, under an agreement signed on 28 April 2026 with Suntory companies. From July 2026, about half of the household PET bottles are sold to a recycler named by Suntory and made into new bottles for Suntory products. Residents keep sorting as before: remove caps and labels, rinse the bottle, and put it in the collection net or container by 8:00 on the resource collection day. Caps and labels go with plastic resources.
